Everything Offstage: Performance Ecosystems Outside the Role of the Dancer

In this salad bar survey, we will explore the performance ecosystem outside of the role of the dancer, inclusive of technical production, producing, audience engagement, criticism and arts administration. Articulating the various career paths that exist in the field, we will collectively imagine what it is to bring forth an idea from conception to completion, communally draft a budget and engage in a conversation about making a life and making a living as a collaborative creative professional. This is a seminar that we build together. Come with your ideas, questions and hopes for your future in dance, and come curious about pathways that might not yet exist in your training. A brief media list is available for advance preparation in order to jump start our conversation. Free and open to the public.
